Winter Energy Credit
If any parents are on a low income/means tested benefits and, their energy provider is part of this scheme, they can apply for credit towards their winter energy costs.
You could get £140 off your electricity bill for winter 2019 to 2020 under the Warm Home Discount Scheme. The money is not paid to you - it’s a one-off discount on your electricity bill, between September and March.
If you are supporting families experiencing hardship please refer them into Salford Assist rather than to the Food Bank. Where applicable, families may be issued with Aldi vouchers to assist with purchase of food and household essentials.
- Salford Assist can offer short term support to people who are in crises. The scheme doesn’t offer cash however can provide shopping vouchers for food along with referrals for baby milk and nappies.
- Applicants must have a 6 month local connection to Salford and show they don’t have sufficient income or savings.

- Supporting documents required are Proof of ID, an up to date bank statement and any benefits letters.
