Year Three
Welcome to the Year 3 class page.
I’m Miss Leigh, the Year 3 class teacher.
In Year 3 we are positive, enthusiastic and have a real love of learning. We are ready to use our creative minds to tackle the Year 3 curriculum. Our day is filled with engaging, exciting, and creative lessons. We are eager to learn and are excited to now be part of Key Stage 2.
As the class teacher I encourage all children to participate in lessons and take pride in their work. My lessons are planned so that all children are engaged in their learning journey.
We start the day with our literacy lessons which consistent of spelling, grammar and writing. Children will recap and learn new spellings every day. Our grammar sessions will be incorporated into our writing lessons where we experiment with different ways of writing. We use a wide selection of texts throughout the year to keep the children captivated and eager to learn..
Following on from this we go into our Maths lessons, where we complete daily arithmetic before going on to our White Rose Maths. This is where the children can recap on previous lessons and are introduced to new learning.
Our afternoons consist of PE, RE, History, Geography, and PSHE at the start of the week. And we finish the week with French, Computing, Music and Design Technology.
Monday and Thursday are PE day. All children are required to come to school in full PE kit.
Going the extra mile for success
All home support is hugely appreciated and makes a positive impact on your child's learning opportunities. Please support your child by ensuring they read at least 5 times a week, with 5-10 pages per night. Please bring diaries/books into school daily and use diaries to communicate with me throughout the week.
Homework will be set each Friday on Spelling Shed and TT Rockstars. If you prefer paper copies, please let me know.
This year, we are continuing with the 'Walk to School' scheme, where children receive badges for taking part and increasing their fitness. If you have to drive your child to school, they can still achieve an active badge by parking at the shops and walking the remaining distance.
If you have any questions about your child’s learning, please contact via Class Dojo.
